Designed to meet the needs of demanding industries and environments
Key application areas

Solar panels (PV installations)
EXOCOAT™ 151A is designed for exterior use and offers up to five years of durability. It keeps surfaces clean by leveraging a sol-gel nano titanium dioxide technology that is activated by light, providing continuous protection. The product is resistant to cleaning, ensuring that its self-cleaning and protective properties remain effective even after repeated washing. EXOCOAT™ 151A is especially suitable for demanding environments such as solar panel installations, where maintaining a clean surface is critical for optimal performance. It can also be used on other flat surfaces where maintaining cleanliness and durability is important.

Everything you need to know about EXOCOAT™ 151A
What is EXOCOAT™ 151A?
EXOCOAT™ 151A is a ready-to-use, water-based, doped nano-titanium dioxide sol-gel coating. It is designed for high-performance self-cleaning and photocatalytic applications, especially on flat, non-porous surfaces like glass, metals, and ceramic tiles. The coating is activated by visible light, creating a superhydrophilic surface that breaks down organic dirt and enhances water sheeting for easy cleaning.
What are the main benefits and features of EXOCOAT™ 151A?
Keeps surfaces clean by breaking down organic matter (dirt, VOCs, NOx, bio-pollution); Resistant to repeated cleaning and weathering; Easy and versatile application (spray, brush, roller, dip); Activated by light for continuous protection; Up to 5 years outdoor durability; Water-based, low VOC, and environmentally friendly; Superhydrophilic effect for water sheeting and rapid drying; Quick drying at room temperature.
On what substrates can EXOCOAT™ 151A be applied?
It is compatible with glass, metals (including stainless steel and aluminum), and stone. It is ideal for solar panels, architectural glass, and other flat, non-porous surfaces.
How is EXOCOAT™ 151A applied?
Spray application (conventional or rotary bell) is preferred for uniform, invisible films. Brush or roller can be used on porous substrates. Dip coating is possible for industrial/OEM use. Wiping is possible with circular movements.
What are the recommended spray parameters?
Nozzle size: 0.8–1.2 mm; Pressure: 3 bar; Distance: 20 cm; Passes: 1–2 for transparent/glossy, 2–4 for matte/mineral substrates. For rotary bell: 50,000–70,000 rpm, 1 bar dress pressure, 0 bar vortex pressure, 0.4–0.6 m/s speed, 50 mL/min flow.
Is EXOCOAT™ 151A an end product or a formulation component?
EXOCOAT™ 151A is an end product, intended to be applied directly to the substrate as a topcoat.
What is the drying and curing time?
Dries to touch in a few minutes. Full cure outdoors: 4 hours at room temperature before exposure to elements. Full cure indoors: up to 1 week at room temperature for maximum durability.
What is the shelf life and storage advice?
Shelf life: 12 months (unopened, original container, 5–25°C, dark conditions). Store in a cool, dry place, tightly sealed, away from direct sunlight and freezing.
What are the main technical properties?
Technology: Sol-gel nano titanium dioxide; Particle size: 6–8 nm; pH: 8–11; Solids: 1.0%; Appearance: Yellowish, slightly opaque liquid.
What is the mode of action?
The coating is activated by visible or UV light, generating free radicals that break down organic matter and pollutants. The surface becomes superhydrophilic (contact angle <10°), causing water to sheet and carry away dirt.
How durable is EXOCOAT™ 151A?
Up to 5 years outdoor durability. Resistant to repeated cleaning and weathering.
Is EXOCOAT™ 151A safe and compliant?
Not classified as hazardous under EU CLP regulations. Contains 0.7–0.99% nano titanium dioxide (anatase). Compliant with REACH, TSCA, AICS, CEPA, and other major regulations.
What packaging sizes are available?
200 g bottles; 5 kg drums (most common); 25 kg drums; 200 kg metal drums.
