Sol-Gel

Sol-gel processing transforms liquid precursors into solid networks through controlled chemical reactions. Silicon alkoxides undergo hydrolysis and polycondensation, forming three-dimensional siloxane (Si-O-Si) networks at ambient conditions.

The process enables precise control over film thickness, porosity, and surface chemistry at nanoscale, allowing the incorporation of functionalities like easy to clean, anti-corrosion, barrier effects without compromising structural integrity.

Nano Titanium Dioxide Coatings

The sol-gel method is commonly used as a direct process to create titanium dioxide coatings on various surfaces. After the preparation of the sol, the solution can be directly applied to the surface. The nanoparticles are dried and cured, and the resulting titanium dioxide coating exhibits several desirable properties, including high transparency, photo-activity, and good adhesion to the substrate. It is commonly used in applications such as self-cleaning, air purifying, and antimicrobial coatings.
